Mission Statement

Understanding that engagement lies at the root of our human development, Pax Christi Port-au-Prince provides a safe place for youth to experience positive alternatives.  Through our philosophy, organizational structure, and programs we encourage local community building and decision making.  We educate and advocate, creating opportunities for peaceful social transformation and economic welfare. We serve approximately 300 youth with peace education through sports and classes, food, educational scholarships, mentorship training, professional development and job skills training, micro-credit opportunities, service leadership experience, urban agriculture skills, and sports activities. We are also in relationship with the SOHAMO (Solidarity with Handicap and Disabled Mothers) camp across from or program site in Cite Soleil.  Currently we provide them with meals as well as having facilitated and coordinated the clean up effort of their camp space and the supply of their camp with high quality tent shelters, needed after the 2010 earthquake.
